Do you consider yourself a traveler?
Or, are you someone who likes to visit new places but experience a bit of anxiety getting there?
The planes, trains and automobiles that transport you to new destinations can often cause a bit of discomfort - physically, mentally and emotionally.
If Travel is the Art of Moving Effortlessly into Adventure, how can you experience effortlessness when it comes to the unknown?
Are you one of those people that dreads the time between point A and Point B?
By applying the Art of Mantra Yoga along with the Four Agreements, I find that you make your travel transitions as pleasurable as the destination itself.
Today I’m making my way from Costa Rica to Sacramento and back home to Nevada City. The big adventure of a tropical winter is behind me. Yet embarking on full day of flight after flight is an adventure in itself. One that can leave many people exhausted.
Here’s my travel tricks…
1. Arrive Earlier than you think you should. Being early for check ins and security starts the day right, allows time for the unknown, and will keep your breath flowing deeply and evenly because you’ll feel relaxed in all the spaciousness the extra time allows.
My Mantra: I have all the time I need.
2. Make No Assumptions
Your plan may all be in place yet there is always the unknown factor of weather, mechanical problems, other people, and the time clock. Be ready for surprises by remaining in awe and wonder.
My Mantra: I Wonder how this day will flow?
3. Don’t take anything personally.
You’re not alone when your schedule does not go as planned. Those delays and missed connections, mistakes in reservations are effecting many other people as well. It’s not about you.
Remain curious It might not be what you planned on, but you have the choice to remain flexible and to go with the flow.
Mantra: This is what’s happening now.
4. Be impeccable with your word.
Be kind to others. Connect with empathy to those around you. Avoid blaming and criticizing for it will only make you and others more uncomfortable. Instead, be a pillar of peace, even if you don’t feel peaceful inside, Just act and speak peacefully, and you, too will eventually feel more peace.
Mantra: Peace is my Medicine
5. Always do your best.
Take good care of yourself. Drink lots of water Eat healthy food. Offer support to others - a smile, a kind gesture, or helping someone with their bags can go along way to creating a rewarding adventure wherever you find yourself.
Mantra: May I be of Service and Benefit to the Web of Life.
Remember- The journey itself is the destination for life truly begins at the end do your comfort zone.
Enjoy the Mystery,.
